Who We Are
At In The Irons Equestrian, we provide professional equine training with a special focus on pony training and rehabilitation. Ponies are often misunderstood, mishandled, or written off too quickly—and that’s where we come in.
We specialize in working with ponies who may have struggled in previous programs, or this is now their “last chance.” Through patient, consistent, and fair training methods, we help ponies rebuild trust, learn appropriate behavior, and develop the skills they need to succeed. Every pony is treated as an individual, and our training programs are tailored to meet their specific needs, temperament, and history.
In addition to training, we proudly take in equine rescues, offering them a safe place to land and the opportunity for a fresh start. Many of these horses and ponies come from difficult backgrounds, and our goal is to give them not just training—but confidence, understanding, and a renewed purpose.
Whether preparing a pony for a new home, improving manners and rideability, or helping a rescue rediscover what it means to be a horse, our mission remains the same:
to give every equine in our care another chance at a successful, fulfilled life.
If you’re looking for compassionate, experienced training—or a place that truly understands the challenges ponies and rescues can face—we’re here to help.
Dartmoor Ponies: Endangered Treasures of the Moor
The Dartmoor pony is one of the UK’s rarest native breeds, known for its gentle temperament, hardiness, and deep historical ties to the rugged Dartmoor landscape. Despite their small stature, these ponies are incredibly strong, intelligent, and sure-footed, making them ideal companions for children, therapy programs, or light riding and driving. By working with these beautiful animals, we aim to conserve a vital piece of British heritage that’s at risk of disappearing.
Highland Ponies: Gentle Giants of the North
We’re thrilled to introduce our newest family member – a Highland pony filly, one of Scotland’s oldest and most cherished breeds. Highland ponies are known for their calm demeanor, thick coats, and remarkable strength, perfect for working in the hills and forging deep bonds with their caretakers. Their kind nature and versatility make them well-suited for families, equestrian sports, or traditional farm work.
